Updates Without the Algorithm
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a standard format websites use to announce new content. Instead of visiting sites one by one or hoping a social feed surfaces them, you add each site’s feed address to a reader application once, and new essays appear there automatically, in chronological order, with no ranking system deciding what you see. Nothing about your reading is transmitted back to us: no read receipts, no tracking pixels in our feed, no profile of your habits. For long-form writing like ours, it remains the best subscription technology ever shipped.

Choosing a Reader
Any standards-compliant reader works with our feeds. Free and paid options exist on every platform: web-based services that sync across devices, native apps for phones and desktops, and minimalist open-source clients for those who prefer to self-host. Pick one, paste the Everything feed in, and confirm the latest essay appears with its figures intact; our charts are inline SVG and travel inside the feed. If a feed ever renders incorrectly in your reader, tell us through the contact page with the reader’s name, and we will investigate; feed bugs get fixed with the same priority as site bugs.
Republishing and Fair Use of Our Feeds
Feeds exist for personal reading, and we keep them full-text as a courtesy to readers. That courtesy has boundaries: wholesale republication of our feed content on other websites, feed-scraping for content farms, and ingestion into commercial datasets are not permitted without prior written permission, as the Copyright and DMCA Policy spells out; ordinary reading and personal archiving fall under the license described in the Terms of Use. Aggregators that display headlines and excerpts with clear attribution and a link back are welcome and always have been. Librarians, teachers, and researchers who want broader reuse should simply ask; educational requests are almost always granted quickly and at no cost.
